Team members from Alpha Team met with Linda Hughes from The Great Ridge Company in early 2014 for a strategic planning session. With Linda’s help, we were able to prioritize team issues and projects. Linda taught us an easy way to figure out what mattered most with the greatest benefit and most significant impact for the team. Projects deemed to be not beneficial, too complex to receive significant benefits, or outside the scope of what the team deemed necessary to accomplish in this calendar year were moved to a notes section of the results rather than “clog” up what the team could accomplish in 2014.
Alpha Team recently met to discuss the results of the planning session and voted to move forward with the Strategic Plan for 2014. This plan will also be available for future team leaders to use as a template with only minor tweaks needed.
Linda Hughes taught us that handling projects didn’t have to be as difficult or as complex as it had been in the past and that simpler and shorter projects will nearly always be more successful and effective than complex plans that span many months or years. Working with Linda was really beneficial to the team and I was able to take away ideas about creating the strategic plan that I didn’t have before. Linda’s contribution of her time, knowledge, and talent is greatly appreciated! Our new Strategic Plan will serve us well for years to come.
If your volunteer organization needs help establishing your strategic plan, I highly encourage you to seek you out and embrace the methods Linda Hughes and The Great Ridge Company employ. Your organization will benefit greatly!
